Alice Twain + Stitch'nd Spritz + filrouge + Knulp = WOW

Sabato 26 febbraio abbiamo avuto il piacere di assistere ad una speciale presentazione del libro "Ai Ferri Corti" di Alice Twain... ma prima delle 18, ora fatidica d'inizio, ci siamo divertite un mondo a sferruzzare tutte insieme!

On Saturday 26th February we had the pleasure of attending to a special presentation of the book "Ai Ferri Corti" by Alice Twain...... but before 6.00 p.m. (fatal beginning time), we enjoyed very much in knitting all together. 

Lo spazio per la presentazione era stato appositamente preparato dai baldi giovani del bar - libreria Knulp,  solerti più che mai, in questa occasione, a soddisfare ogni nostro più piccolo capriccio!

The place for the presentation had been especially prepared by the bold young people of the bar and book-shop Knulp, more than ever kean and ready to meet all our fancy requests! 

Come immaginate la sala si è riempita in un battibaleno: erano presenti praticamente tutte le partecipanti allo Stitch'nd Spritz, moltissime affezionate al negozio filrouge provenienti da Gorizia, parecchie persone dal Veneto e perfino qualche elemento dalla Slovenia! E molte persone non le conoscevamo nemmeno anche se alla fine con qualcuna abbiamo fatto amicizia. :)

As you can immagine, the room was filled up in a twinkling of an eye; in practice almost all the Stitch'nd Spritz participants were present : many fans of the Gorizia "Filrouge" shop, some people from Veneto and even some people from Slovenia! We did not even know some people, but at the end we made friends with some of them. 

Prima della presentazione vera e propria c'è stato anche il modo di incontrarsi tra vecchie conoscenze e chiacchierare amabilmente per un paio di minuti.

Before the beginning of the presentation itself, we had the opportunity to meet old friends and pleasantly chat with them for a couple of minutes. 

Mentre Alice ci raccontava la storia del suo libro e di come è nato, l'uditorio era sempre impegnato in semplici lavorazioni... la regola vale sempre: non portare mai un lavoro troppo complicato agli Stitch'nd Spritz! Ma i lavoratori più indefessi non hanno smesso nemmeno un attimo!

While Alice was explaining us the history of her book and how it was born, the audience was still carrying out some simple works... the rule is always valid: never bring a too complicate knitting work at the Stitch'nd Spritz! On the other hand the most tireless knitters didn't stop even for a moment!

Pur avendo gli occhi e le mani impegnate, le orecchie erano ben aperte per raccogliere ogni preziosa informazione che usciva dalla bocca di Alice... io per prima, essendo così vicina a lei, non le staccavo gli occhi di dosso e pensavo:"Non sia mai che mi sfugga una parola!"

Although having eyes and hands engaged, the ears were full open to hear every precious piece of information that Alice was providing us...I was the first one who was fixing her very firmly and thought "I must not miss a word!" 

Come descrivere l'atmosfera dell'incontro? Rilassata come una chiacchierata in famiglia e soddisfacente come una lezione speciale per noi. Un momento di approfondimento davvero prezioso tanto più perchè così raro (direi anche unico), soprattutto dalle nostre parti!

How to describe the atmosphere of the meeting? Relaxed like a family chat and satisfactory like a special lesson for us. A really precious moment to deep our knowledge, even more because it is so uncommon, (I would say unique) in our region. 

Durante la narrazione non sono mancati i momenti di allegria dovuti ad una battuta o ad un aneddoto divertente...

During the presentation we also had joyful moments caused by a witty remark or an amusing anecdote...

 ... in particolare ha destato molto interesse la parte trattante i filati e i vari tipi di lane...

... particular interest was focused on the part treating yarns and the different types of wools...

 ... e grande curiosità ha suscitato l'aspetto sociale della maglia.

... and big curiosity was raised by the social aspect of knitting.

Alla fine della chiacchierata, dopo molte domande da parte del pubblico, Alice ha illustrato anche dei modelli  che aveva portato come esempio: sia di filato che di lavorazione.

Alcuni di essi si possono trovare nel libro, mentre alti si trovano sul suo blog, che è la spontanea continuazione del libro stesso.

At the end of the chat, after many questions raised by the public, Alice also showed some patterns she had brought either of yarn and of knitting methods.

Some of them can be found in the book, whilst some others are on her blog, which is the natural continuation of the same book. 

Infine vorrei ringraziare le persone che, insieme allo Stitch'nd Spritz, a Knulp ed a filrouge, hanno reso possibile questo splendido evento.
