Our meeting began in the usual way, i.e. by showing our works finished during the last two weeks... and, as usual, the minithings for "Cuore di Maglia" have played the most important part!
I must say that each time that the Swap is approaching I am seized by an incredible emotion.
And this is because the Swap means to finally get rid of the unused wool piling up around the house: it's also due to a strong desire to make space in the cupboards (measurable in cubic meters) in order to be able to buy more wool; at last, but not least, there is a strong curiosity to see what will be brought by the other Spritzers!
It's really nice to wait for some minutes, so as to increase the suspense!
The two most common queries are:" When do we begin the Swap?" and "I hope not to be late".
Please note the falsely relaxed faces... they hide the avidity that only a Serial Accumulator can have!
It's true that this was a real novelty for the newcomers; and they were dealing with the usual work, they asked for advice on a difficult stitch, a small secret to be shared, a yarn to be extricated... totally ignoring what would have happened a little later...
... but other ladies, even if they had never before participated to that event, were already involved in the common enthousiasm and were sacking other people's hand-bags eagerly touching and handling wools with much curiosity...
When we finally drew out the yearns, it has been really a delight for the eyes.
Let's say especially for me, who don't buy wool as from December!
It has been just like drinking a glass of iced water during the crossing on foot of the Kalahari desert!
Obviously we had the "pleasant returns", like the orange ribbon which reappears every Spring...
... but we had also nice new entries, like the lace - fringed ball which immediately disappeared in the hand-bag of a belly-dancer, whilst the nearest knitters gracefully vomited their snack in the nearest waste-paper basket.
As usual there are no photos which can show the rough monopolizing, but I can witness that this time too there has been no wounded women : in conclusion everything went for the best; those who wanted to get rid of as many things as they could were satisfied; and so have been those who needed new exciting stimuli.
As you can imagine however some small fights took place: between me and Anna Maria, for example, just to mention one! (and I was the winner, of course!)
Sabrina ha tirato fuori "La Creatura"...
At the end we had also some thrilling moments, mainly when Sabrina draw out "The Creature"...
... and when she put it on, in spite of the 40 degrees in the room caused by the "Swap perspiration"...
Everything considered, how can we end in a better way??!!!!
